Not the right photo...
I´ve not found a photo that on it´s own catches the spirit of the event, so, with apologies, I´ll resort to a photo-essay again. The main event was the party and dancing that closed the day, but I didn´t have a camera there. The main, then, shows a glimpse from the pipe-and-drums parade, and so do the next three. Then there are images related to the rice pudding itself and to the kiosks that dispense it. The Tacos stall belongs to Daniela, a Mexicana who lives in Cabranes, and so represents just one of the 28 nationalities said, by the council, to inhabit this small area. nd the next two show the whole frontage of, and a fragment of the frontage of, one of the two village bars. The last photo shows the xana and xanu, both the adult ones and their junior counterparts. A xana is an Asturian creature, a cross between a white witch and a leprechaun, and the xanu is the name that would have to be given to her male counterpart if he existed anywhere except in Santolaya on Rice Pudding day. At least you get to see Asturian regional dress. I´ll take most of the extras down in a day or two.
