Waiting for the Fireworks

Cynthia and I had a quiet day at home checking off items on our to-do lists. I did some of my work under the awning on the deck, using the patio table as my work bench. I managed to get quite a lot done, while still feeling relaxed.

We left home at 7:45 pm to go to the annual party on top of the much-blipped Herald Building. It's organized by Futurewise Whatcom, a nonprofit group that works to promote healthy communities and cities while protecting working farms, working forests, and shorelines today and for future generations.

As we watched the sun set on Bellingham Bay we enjoyed delicious food provided by Man Pies, Boundary Bay beer, Acme ice cream (Amaretto), live music by Blues Union, and conversation with friends.

We didn't stay for the fireworks, because we're getting up at 4:30 am to watch a live broadcast of the Tour de France at Mount Bakery. The riders will be passing through places familiar to us from several visits, and inhabited by blippers 5000vines, chaiselongue, and BrodieB.

It's going to be a short night.

See C's blip for a different view.
