Lilac

Some years ago we wanted a Lilac shrub to replace an old one.   We had great difficulty finding one as they were in short supply.  They were also very expensive.

Then we found this rather sad and neglected plant reduced to clear in a local garden centre.   It didn't look very healthy but the assistant at the garden centre assured us it would be OK with a little TLC.

It's more than OK because it has thrived in the garden and has grown into a massive bush that has lovely flowers each year.
