Preserving the moment
It’s off to Liverpool today. I have to pick up some forms from LSTM (Tropical Medicine), then go to The Royal for an ECG and blood tests before picking up my next set of meds from the hospital pharmacy. It’s impressively efficient - the ECG is almost immediately available - and so within an hour, I’ve finished and we’re off to Meols for our weekly Lili ‘fix’.
In fairness, G is helping Daniel with the gardening and clearing out the garage, remembering just how hard it is to get things done with a baby on the scene. As for me, it’s just cuddles and play with Lili - she’s definitely at the stage where she wants activity when she’s awake; she’s just so curious and responsive. And, of course, there’s an opportunity for photographs. She seems to really love the camera, and naturally I’m talking to her all the time. We have an interesting discussion about the value of taking photographs - are you ‘in the moment’ when you’re taking a shot, or are you distancing your self from actually experiencing it. We both feel taking a photograph is actually being part of the moment, and preserving that moment is so important. Fellow blipper, amandaAlentejo shared a wonderful link - particularly relevant to parents and grandparents, but I think the underlying philosophy is true of almost all photography - you’ll find it here.
We leave early to try to avoid the inevitable traffic jams, questioning our sanity for even contemplating driving into North Wales on a Bank Holiday Friday. Taking a detour, we avoid the worst of the Queensferry queues, but it’s still a slow journey.
Now obviously I’ll never tire of posting shots of Lili, and as she’s the only subject for my camera today, I’m afraid it’s yet another Lili shot!
And many thanks for your kind comments, stars and hearts for yesterday’s squirrel shots.
