Hill Top Ramblings

Harvest

Today I got up at five, to go and be Poll Clerk in Kendal. It was a rather slow day with only around 280 voters come in. This was our first election with the requirements of an identity card, and it was surprising to find that only two people had forgotten theirs. There were, as expected, several people who expressed their annoyance at this. One man was particularly grumpy about it, although he produced his card nonetheless. The others made the point that it rather discriminated against young people, who might not have an identity card available without having to pay. Fair point. OAPs can use their free bus passes and blue cards.
It was a long day but interesting.
When I got home, Rob’s Canadian cousin who has just flown in, was asleep in bed!
