Changing your mind
I did not like this book at all when I started it and not even up to a third of the way through at which point I was extremely tempted to bin it. I found the fancy descriptions distracting from the story. It was as if the writer was trying too hard to be clever in the writing - and for me it was spoiling the story.
I brought another book down with a plan to read the new one and maybe try bits of this one every other day or so however, I never started the new book as something kept drawing me back to this one! I don't know if I got used to not letting the fancy words distract me from a very good story or if the writer used less of this very descriptive writing, but I ended up enjoying the book due to the excellent story.
I finished it today and I'm glad I didn't bin it, as it would have been a waste of an enjoyable story. It made me cry, but that's life.
Walked to town this morning and replaced one of my geocaches which had gone missing. Got the bus home.
I was checking the time re the bus and noticed my fitbit was not working - it was flat and had been for 2 days!
This afternoon I've dethatched the lawns again even though I said I would leave them a while before repeating it. The electric rake is so tempting when you can see the thatch! The lawns look somewhat threadbare now and still look to have a lot of thatch - I think there is more thatch and dead moss than grass.
