Chicks!

Two of the eggs hatched! One popped out at 2am on Saturday and Rowan got up to watch it break out of its shell. It was wandering around with it stuck in its head for a while! The second chick hatched around 2am on Sunday.

So 2 out of 7 eggs hatched - there’s quite a lot of variables! It’s amazing how these can grow in only 20 days.

They are Scots Dumpies - these should be pure black ones which are also sometimes known as Backies, Blackies, Creepers or Crawlers. They’re a traditional Scottish rare bread. They have very short legs and when fully grown they look like they are floating on the ground.
