Hanging...

...on for dear life!...

So, the other day while I was walking around the Kings Park, there were a lot of holes in the ground between some trees.  I couldn't work out what they were at first but then I saw a very small bee go down one and I had a light bulb moment!  Mining bees!  Tawny mining bees to be precise (female).  I went back with my camera today and fired off a few shots of a couple with their heads popping out of their holes but they're not great - see extras.  They are beautiful little bees and have only been sighted in the Central Belt since 2010 apparently.

Dale popped by this afternoon/evening.  She's just finished a run of night shifts which she is not used to doing so she's a but on the tired side...
