Delamere Meridian

We went for a walk up Old Pale today as I wanted to find a newly placed geocache based on the trigpoint which is the nearest to home. On reading the accompanying description it pointed to an article describing how this location was significant in the production of early OS maps as it acted as a meridian for the north of England comparable to Greenwich in the south. For anyone interested I have provided a link to the article here. This was news to me.

My extra is a jay (bird 69). Although it's flying away from me I thought I would add it because I always find it difficult photographing one and I thought it showed the colours very well.
