Nigel's Rhoddie

About 10 years ago a friend asked us to rescue a rhododendron. She was selling off the end of her garden and wanted this to go to a good home before the builders moved in. It was a bit of a struggle.  I think it was about 20 years old at that point, but it didn't die, and it is at last beginning to produce a goodly number of flowers. I sent her this picture this morning. 

Her late husband planted many beautiful and rare specimens, but alas he didn't label this one, so I've no idea what it is. We just call it Nigel's Rhoddie.
