Tripping the Light Fantastic
I woke up to the fantastic light this morning, after a good night’s sleep, despite the revelry (very quiet tonight). The light is so intense here that my eyes always feel a bit sore initially.
I made myself a Valencian breakfast of freshly squeezed orange juice and pan y tomate and then once I’d unpacked and put a wash on, went out to Mass. It was rammed. Standing room only! This weekend was the first visit of the statue of the Virgen de los Desamparados (patron saint of Valencia) for 50 years, so the local (Ruzafa area) Falleras and Falleros were there in their fabulous costumes and there was some wonderful singing by the choir and soloists.
In the afternoon I went out to our local park and then headed to the beach for a walk along the prom. There were free dance classes on offer but sadly I was minus my partner (not that Mr P would have been up for it!) I’m still missing not having company but I’m enjoying relaxing after a rather stressful last few months.
