IT'S MOTORHEAD SUNDAY

Today's submission features the world's first in-line 4-cylinder motor...the 1908 FN BIG FOUR Edson McCord vintage motorcycle seen at the Concours d'Elegance associated with the fall vintage races at Road America.

She's a beautiful old girl and I see her regularly riding around this area, especially on a nice Sunday and usually observed at the Sheboygan County Marsh Lodge for breakfast at the restaurant.  I'm pretty sure I'd have to go to school to learn how to operate it...not intuitive even for a motorhead.

Look at that beautifully designed 4-cylinder mill.  Quite an innovation for its day.  There's even a genuine brass carbide lamp.  It works by combining calcium carbide with water to produce acetylene gas which can be burned to produce light and there's a nice fresnel lens to focus it.

A quick Wiki search yielded all sorts of information about this bike.  Check it out:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_Four
