Lumieres
Wow!
Our last day and the glorious weather turned to mush so we hopped a tram to Fabrique des Lumieres for an immersive walk through the Dutch Masters which beat any museum for an experience that blew the senses. Projected all over the interior of a large warehouse were the paintings, moving and transforming with a background of stirring music from Romeo and Juliet to Nina Simone’s Feeling Good. So good we watched it twice through and I would have stayed all day.
Unfortunately a home to go to so quick trip to Dam Square, a squint at the red lights district and sandwich at Rokin sheltering from the hailstones.
Got to the airport with plenty of time to spare only to find the flight three hour delayed due to the weather. Grrrr. However we got out after two hours including the crazy bright orange Dutch Olympic Team carry on bag, which I found at Waterlooplein for 10 euros. It was way too large to take on but somehow got away with it and triumphant got it home much to N’s despair.
No I don’t need it, but the irony of people at the airport, looking at me trying to puzzle out what my Olympic discipline could possibly be tickled me.
Probably shot put ;))))) ?
