Carne do Porco Alentejano
I don’t do shellfish, but this artisanal dish, in a workers' restaurant in Montemor-o-Novo, came with clams. It was such a pleasure to have found this place that it would have been churlish to reject them – and very tasty they were.
We reached Lisbon last night after a reasonable delay; the approach over the city was just before sunset and old Lisbon looked beautiful in the lowering light – easy for us, of course, noisily descending over people's homes.
And this morning we made it out of the city, having returned to the airport to get the hire car I had booked. Guerin was great, no hassle taking over the car, and driving out of the city was only mildly tense: Mrs B is a great nav.
We stopped in Montemor for a coffee and to make Apple CarPlay work in the car, a Hyundai Bayon. Then we found this restaurant. . .
