Puffing Billy
A day of local trips to get some gifts for Andy (who has a birthday next week) and to stock up on food (custard tarts featured!).
On my travels I spent a few moments enjoying the old Puffing Billy railway line in Havant (pictured). It’s now a cycle route running down to the coast and along to Hayling Island. Andy remembers travelling on a small steam train on this line as a little boy, going from Havant railway station to West Town station on Hayling Island. There’s now a theatre at West Town which was converted from a disused goods shed which was left when the railway was dismantled in the 1960s. We’ve walked the route many times - it’s a special place, lined by trees and wildlife, then with views out to sea.
Gratefuls:
- Another warm and sunny day, albeit with a cool breeze.
- A peaceful walk to the allotment and village shop first thing this morning.
- Exploring and enjoying local places on a beautiful sunny day.
