Dear Green Place 25 - Victoria Park
Off we go!
Ok, I know the whole point of this project initially was to stop me blipping cygnets every day, but I couldn't resist!
This is my local park and I was saving it for a rainy day so I could take an indoor blip of the Fossil Grove (in situ fossilised tree stumps, the remains of a 330 million year old rain forest preserved in stone, discovered during the building of the park, in the late 19th century). But I tried taking a photo of the fossil grove last weekend and forgot that it is pretty much completely dark in there... and I had no tripod. And the wrong lens. And I was on my way to catch a ferry...
The cygnets are growing really fast - they are only four and a half weeks old but now have a distinct swan-shaped body and their necks are so much longer then just a week ago. Their wings don't seem to grow at the same rate though and they are still a bit wobbly on their feet.
The park was formally opened in 1887, the year of Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee.
