Monday: Handing Over The Reins
A few weeks ago we ran a competition for a young girl, aged between 15-18, to do my job for a day. And here is the winner, 15 year old Aoife from San Ignacio. Today’s not the actual day when she steps up, that’s later in the week, but today we went on one of the TV morning shows to talk about the competition and her stepping in. It was her first time on TV and she handled it brilliantly.
Later in the morning I went to an event hosted by the Statistical Institute of Belize who were revealing the results of the census taken in 2022. It was such an eye-opener and made me realise just how much we take for granted. For example, there were categories as to how many houses were made from plywood, whether your light source was from a candle and whether you owned a refrigerator or microwave……censuses in developing worlds definitely have different priorities.
