Didn't wake up until 7.45- it’s dark in the cupboard! Said ggodbye to Ds family and then got ready to leave for Fife at 9. Had a nice browse around a fab clothes shop in Doune which we had wanted to visit for a while snd then were driving to Kirkaldy to go to place which sells upholstery fabric when we got the shocking news that Ds stepfather had died rather suddenly in A and E. He was 95 but although virtually bedridden snd in a care home hadn’t really been ill. Sad - I have met him a few times over the years and will remember him as a gentle and caring soul. A real shock for D of course but we carried on and I browsed the shop whilst she made the necessary phone calls to family etc. From there we went to St Andrews to have a lovely lunch at Haar. Have blipped my starter of salt baked beetroot . Looked in a couple more shops but it was cold and wet , so didn't linger. Had a gentle evening eating pate and cheese etc and watching TV . D not surprisingly was exhausted .
