Great day out!
We drove into Bristol this morning to meet up with one of Grace’s friends on the Harbourside in Bristol. Nice to be back. After a brief spell in the M Shed we moved out onto the quay so the girls could scoot (extra) and have their picnic.
We got some coffees and an amazing sandwich from the quayside cafe just behind the girls in the extra shot. (Toasted walnuts in a sandwich are amazing )
We then went onto The Matthew, a replica sailing ship oh John Cabot’s shine used to sail from Bristol to Newfoundland in the late 15th century. More here.
The main blip is Eda descending one of the ladders with Grace with Jude in the background. The girls left their scooters on the quay but kept their helmets on!
It’s been really warm today but windy. At one point Jude was down to wearing her vest and skort!
We said goodbye to R and her two youngsters and drove across to the University area to see a teen production of SIX in the 1532 Theatre. I haven’t seen the professional version of this show but I don’t think it could have been done any better. A fabulous, energetic production of this musical story of Henry VIII’s six wives. Grace knew the girl playing Anne Boleyn and two of the dancing Ladies in Waiting. All her ex students. She stayed behind to speak to them.
In the second part of extra collage the girls could sit on a throne in the foyer of the theatre and wear crowns for a photo. They both really enjoyed the show.
Back to Bath for a quick turn around for Grace for her show this evening. John and Eda are going to watch with neighbours and Eda’s friend Madeleine. Eda has gone with them so John doesn’t have to come home from work.
We are entertaining Jude. Bath and bedtime soon.
I love where the family live now and Bath is a great city but I do love a nostalgic visit into Bristol now and then - shame about the traffic there and back.
