Ah Grasshopper

This is surely a grasshopper - Ah, Grasshopper, You have failed no one, Grasshopper; only your own ambition.

Have a look at it Large for more detail.

I'm sure somebody on here will know what it is - I had a look in my book and on the Interweb, but couldn't find what it was.

Another hot day, that, again has arrived too quickly - I can hear a dry thunderstorm in the valley below - there may be a few lightning flashes *crosses fingers and prepares tripod*

It looks like the blip police have stripped my link to Honourable Son N°2's journal - if you don't type Etienne in the search then you probably won't find him and that will probably be alright ... I imagine.

Today's music link is a French Classic Serge Gainsbourg - La Javanaise

Just a bit of a pearl of information - Have you ever heard of the horrors of Oradour-sur-Glane?

Well Serge Gainsbourg, born Lucien Ginsburg in Paris, the son of Russian-Jewish emigrants left Paris during the occupation to a quiet village in the Haute Vienne departement in Limousin region of France - to apparent safety.

He, like many others were forced to wear the yellow star as a Jew - a sheriff's star he later joked adding that 'I was born under a lucky star - a yellow star'.

His father was a talented pianist, but as Jews were not allowed to participate in the arts, nobody dared employ him and he left Paris in 1942, later to join Serge and his sister in 1944 using false papers in a small village just a few kilometers from the ill-fated village of Oradour-sur-Glane.

The young Lucien (Serge) was in a Jesuit school in St Léonard-de-Noblat, which was raided one night by the Gestapo, looking for Jewish children hidden there - Lucien hid in the forest, with the help of the teachers, until the search was over, which led him to always consider that he was a lucky escapee all of his life.
