The Old Gaol
The weather completely changed for our last day in the North East. R and I did a very blustery walk along the beach at Whitley Bay, we dropped R at the Metro station then we set off home.
MrP had spotted that we could drive close to the highest point in the county of Tyne and Wear. I'm not sure there was such was a county on the jigsaw puzzle I had as a child, but anyway MrPs book has it listed so off we went.
The extra was taken very close to the highest point which was in the middle of the field behind me. This view is more interesting and gives a flavour of the terrain. Certainly not the most scenic county top we have visited. And Im sure there was no trig point because its a "new" county
Lunch in Hexham. Wandering round we spotted the Old Gaol built in 1333 out of stones from the Roman site at Corbridge (just 3 miles away) which we visited two days ago, a very fitting end to our Roman themed weekend and is the Blip of the day.
PS ( I have swapped the photos over)
