H is for Heretics

About half way up these steps is a plaque (details shown in extra pic) commemorating the death of three women and a baby who were cruelly burned at the stake because of their Protestant Faith. The execution took place just around the corner from the top of the steps where those accused and found guilty of witchcraft were also burned at the stake.
The 16th century was not a time to dare to be different in any way!

The plaque was put there in 1999 by the Villiaze Chapel community.
