Between fen and mountains

A warm spot

One of the yard cats has decided that this is good place to sit with warm compost beneath and shelter under the tree. I planned a walk for next week in the morning as well as sending off an evaluation of the safeguarding course I did last week. The usual Friday tennis practice took place, but the strong wind made it difficult to play. Our valley is usually protected from the prevailing winds, but the wind woke me in the night and all sorts of garden items were scattered around people’s gardens - very unusual. I went down to the recycling centre in the afternoon. I had heard that there was compost to collect. They had a pile about 2 metres high for people to help themselves. This is on top of the compost that becomes available in the communal compost bins, like the one in the photo, that are in several places around the village. The staff are very helpful at our little recycling centre. It deserves an award as it is spotlessly clean and the guys there collect items which they use to decorate a small garden area. I have told them so in the past. One of them also came to help us shovel the compost into sacks.
