Flexibility
It was 23°F when we got in the car to leave the farm. Our windshield was covered with tiny frost designs. We knew it was going to be cold so we waited until this morning to load the SUV. We were still on the road by 7:30 am, a new record for us. We would have left even earlier but hubby remembered to attach the trailer as we started out of the driveway. Our BIL had to antifreeze the house before he left so they were a bit behind us. Their truck had made funny noises on the way up and the first time we went to town. If you remember, that truck had just been repaired before we left town. My sister and I agreed to stay in touch in case we were needed. And we were. The noise sounded worse and an indicator light sounded the alarm. We turned around and met them at the Ford dealership in town. Someone was looking out for us during the entire process. We use tubs to transport food, computers, etc back and forth. Plus we carry seven gallon cans for water (we just aren’t comfortable with water in that area for drinking/cooking). We also use coolers for the cold/frozen food. We have to bring home our refuge since there is no convenience center we can use. After loading all that stuff on the trailer, there was not room for one more item. But we were able to carry everything the two couples had packed! Hubby and our BIL had plenty of straps to safely secure the load. We had smooth sailing all the way home and enjoyed seeing trees in flower and in bud against that pretty blue, cloudless sky. They will drive back up with us in April if their truck has been repaired. We always begin our trips with a prayer for safe travel. They were certainly answered today. We traveled on a new route at first since our trip started on Moundsville. The roads were very smooth and traffic was fine. My sister read her Kindle, I read Blip journals and Sugar alternated between both of us. We found a nice Mexican restaurant at lunch time. The young woman in the bottom left corner is making us fresh guac. Yum. We will drop them off around 6:45 and then visit Shadow since Kim and family are in the Outer Banks, NC with her hubby’s family for Easter. Wishing you safe travels. Thanks for visiting. “Carry with you maps and string, flashlights, friends who make you sing, and stars to help you find your place, music, hope, and amazing grace.”
