Sunshine on Kite
The forecast was for a lovely sunny morning, so I got up, stripped the bed, washed the bedding and hung it outside to dry before setting off for Pensthorpe. It was a glorious morning, not a cloud in the sky and felt quite warm. The birds were quite noisy today and the geese were hanging around in pairs, chasing off the occasional single goose. The flooding had receded enough to walk round the front lake, the back still being closed off. Lots to see and photograph today including this red kite, a buzzard, a chiffchaff, the flamingo group (who were quite quiet), the first chick (a moorhen running happily towards its parent), and a squirrel (doing a 'here's Johnny' impression of Jack Nicholson in the Shining) - as a collage with another extra. I think the moorhen chicks were very young as they kept falling over! Back home I edited my photos and then got the washing in and back on, mowed the lawn, and sowed the first row of lettuce, rocket and salad onions in the raised bed. A wonderful Spring day.
