Spring is on its way

The sight of new fencing posts is a sign that spring is on its way and the cattle will soon out be to grass!  Before that happens all the fences and hedges have to be checked for weaknesses to ensure the animals aren't able to break out - that can be a real trial. One year we had several young ones who went through the fences across several fields over the border into Dorset!  There they stayed in some farmer's field for a fortnight as they were too wild to load into a box to bring back and someone had to feed them cake from a bucket every day to tame them and teach them to follow!

A wet start but after the rain had stopped we had a glorious spring day and the blackbird gave a serenade in the garden.
