At a gig
OMD (Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark) and OMG Andy McCluskey, Paul Humhreys and the Band were on fire this evening at The Halls, Wolverhampton. Mr HB has a wonderful grandson Paul, who is a Lighting Director for the Band and who kindly got us Guest tickets, and the best tickets at that in the circle, standing only downstairs and the balconies looked perilously high! The Band’s current tour is in celebration of their newest Album “Bauhaus Staircase”. They sang some tracks from it, my favourite being Verushka.
Then there were lots of old favourites, including Enola Gay, Pandora’s Box, Maid of Orleans, If you Leave, Souvenir, sailing on the Seven Seas and many more. The show ended at 10.45 and I was shattered having sung, swayed, arm-waved and foot-tapped etc. throughout. Golly, Andy and Paul H have some energy; they’re no spring chickens but were as fit, energetic and fabulous as ever. Trivia info on Andy: He plays bass upside down, with the highest-pitched strings at the top and lowest on the bottom. He founded Atomic Kitten, led by singer Liz McClarnon: who knew!.
Having said goodbye to Grandson Paul, who will be sleeping in the tour bus tonight and off to Swansea tomorrow, we got back to our hotel just before midnight a cuppa and a much needed sleep.
A leisurely breakfast this morning and a quiet day ahead I expect!
Extras: a few more of the wonderful OMD
