On a cold morning

The coldest morning of the year so far. Gloves for the first time, and still my hands got cold. probably because the gloves I use for running are knit cotton gardening gloves, which actually let in a lot of cold air. The first frost of the year at Snell Beach. South Islanders have been experiencing colder weather than this for longer, I know. Still it was bracing.

The tide was out, and the light from the dawn sky reflected in the small patches of water left on the flats as I went along Erceg's Way to the northern end at Whisper Cove. On the way back I was treated to a fabulous sunrise, which I have captured here; another Saturday sunrise. More special when looked at large.

After breakfast I broke out the broom to sweep up the debris from the last few weeks' storms. Lots of small and medium sized branches broken off the pohutukawa trees onto the decks. Result was a much easier walk on and across the deck.

Friends joined us for lunch, prepared by the resident master mistress cook. Great conversation, and of course we put the world to rights as on is allowed to do in such circumstances. They have now returned to the city, and we will have a quiet evening, and I will attempt to solve Kropotkin once again.
