Living my dream

Bust

Not a blocked pipe, but a broken bit of pump: the bit which sucked the water through it (my Plumblish skills failed me).

So this one goes to the tip after I've cannibalised it for washers, seals and other useful bits. I have a new pump which I hope lasts longer than 2 and a bit years.

I have to admit, despite the cost of a new pump, Barry and I were both relieved when we saw water running through the pipe as it should. A blockage would have been a nightmare to clear. Replacing the pump was straightforward in comparison.

The sun was out again today...hooray. We missed a frost by 1 degree. It was a horrible start to the day, reminding me of what's ahead of us - although not for another couple of months.

I was back in shorts and a t-shirt for our walk, and Bean has spent much of the day lounging in the sunshine, getting far too hot.

I have put the Tomato Kasundi ingredients list in the extra. Add more or less chilli depending on your tolerance (and I use flakes rather than fresh).

Put everything into a pot. Bring it to the boil and simmer for a couple of hours until it's thick and jammy. Put it into jars and pour a wee bit of olive oil on top to seal it. Once it's open keep it in the fridge.
