New Girls

Four new chooks picked up today. Two Polands, with extravagant pom pom heads, and two Blacktails (as we don't have any ginger chickens just now).

All, as usual, named after people we admire / find entertaining...

Smallest Poland, to the left in the main photo, is Nina, after Professor Janina Ramirez; the other Poland being Tia, after Tia Kofi, one of our favourite UK queens from Drag Race; then Alice (first of the Blacktails in the extras), who is of course Professor Alice Roberts; then another drag queen, Scarlet Envy, for the second.

Now, the intention had been to simply throw them in with the old girls, as that's what we did last time, And initially things were fine, with some of the old girls grumbly, and a wee bit of pecking. But. The last time we didn't have Freya, and we don't trust her one inch. She's taken a couple of young pheasants around here that are about the size of Nina (and Polands, with that pom pom, can't see something sneaking up from behind).
