A Rainy Night in Venice

It was really raining when we arrived in Venice. That didn't bother us as much as the fact the wind and rain made the canals extremely rough and choppy. As anyone who has ever visited Venice knows, the only way to get from the airport to the hotel is by water taxi...about an hour and a half trip across those same rough, choppy waterways. Did I mention that Kathy suffers from motion sickness? But she was a real trooper and endured it all without complaint.

This shot is from later that evening, just after dark. The streets were still wet and glistening and the canals were filled to the brim. I couldn't have asked for a better subject to top off our first day in Venice.
