Shakkin' Brig, Edzell

This cable suspension footbridge spans the River North Esk at Edzell just upstream from a point where the river takes a huge bend with cliffs on one side and a rocky "beach" on the other. There has been a bridge here for over 100 years but there have been several rebuilds and repairs in that time, most recently in the 1990s when work was done by some American servicemen from the nearby US base .
Crossing the bridge today was straightforward enough with little in the way of "shakkin'' but on a windy wet day and waters rushing below it can be quite an exciting experience.
