Sally Mair - Loving life

memories

I had a slow start after a good night's sleep-thank you Nytol!
Ali dropped in a bag of washing in passing, she found she was running out of drying space so I said I'd do a load for her , I love all these tiny baby clothes.
She, Bonnie and Katy came in a little later and stayed for lunch. We had two of mum's rings to give to the girls, she wore them all the time. Originally they had belonged to her mother and her sister - our girls great grandmother and great, great aunt - they were pleased about that and each choose the one I had pre-selected for them in my mind.
The brooches above also belonged to mum and I had chosen them for her four great-granddaughters. I particularly like the topaz and marcasite bar brooch. The rose is especially poignant. It's Norwegian silver and enamel and quite unusual, they are usually self coloured rather than with a design. Mum got it on the cruise they all took to the fiords in 1961, just after Colin's older sister died, aged 10. The other two are a dragon fly with mother of pearl and marcasite and the crescent has a garnet. We thought they would like something as a memento.
