Chapel of the Holy Cross

The hill of Montmajour outside Arles is the home of an imposing medieval abbey. This little XIIth century chapel stands aside on the hill. It is a lovely Romanesque construction that once sheltered a piece of Christ's Holy Cross.

I went there towards the end of the day because I knew it would be lit beautifully. The colors are a good illustration of the countryside of Provence.
