"I'll take over that post please."
At sunrise this morning, I had a wealth of photo opportunities. A boat was unloading big fish and the fish house was separating herring from ice, sending the small fish everywhere.
The trick for the pelicans was to be able to get into "the spot", the place where the herring poured out of the building. But, the spot was filled with 20-25 pelicans.
The bird in the main post was attacking it in steps. He first forces the seagull off the post, then waits there for his chance to crowd into "the spot."
I put several pictures into my Extras.
1. A pelican howling at the rising sun.
2. How much is that egret in the window?
The one with the waggly tail.
How much is that egret in the window?
I do hope that egrets for sale.
3. The return of Larry, the one-legged pelican. I was beginning to wonder if something had happened to him.
4. Conflict on the Conveyer. The mature pelican was holding its spot, and the younger one challenged him/her. A battle of the beaks ensued, with the younger peli winning.
BTW, it is my birthday. 71 years ago, I was born to Naomi and Jim in Paducah, Kentucky.
My friend Keith took me out to lunch for Philly cheesesteaks, and Lisa took me to Cracker Barrel for supper.
