Blean Woods
In the afternoon, I went out to explore the footpaths in Thornden and West Blean woods and see if I could spot any animals that are part of the rewilding project there. They have European bison, Iron-Age pigs, longhorn cattle and Exmoor ponies.
I didn't see much other than the evidence of roaming animals for the first hour, but when I turned a corner to one of the main paths I saw a boar walking on the other side of the enclosure fence. He seemed pretty nonchalant, but was impressive nonetheless.
Before I set out on my visit I copied the Kent Wildlife Trust's map of the area.
