Brown Hare

Today's destination was Sculthorpe Moor Nature Reserve. It's a fabulous reserve with extensive boardwalks making it accessible for most people, even wheelchair users. 
It was raining when I got there but I was treated to some lovely sunny intervals in between the showers and there are plenty of hides to shelter in. 

The first hide was great for small birds with the bullfinch and brambling being the smartest of them all (extras).
I then moved over to the woodland hide which had a similar selection of little birds, plus a Jay, Pheasants and the obligatory Muntjac deer that seem to be all over Norfolk.  Along the side of the reserve are some huge grassy fields which held some brown hares, but all quite distant, until this one lolloped into view quite close enabling me a few shots before he bounded away to be with his mates. 

The Barn Owl was nowhere to be seen, but the Tawny Owl was sleeping in his box. Also quite widespread in Norfolk now are the colourful Egyptian Geese which were introduced to the UK in private collections, but have now established breeding populations, mainly in the south east of the UK. We don't see them too often ay home, apart from the ones we see sometimes at Burton Mere. 

Another lovely day with some nice sightings. Only one more day to go - it's gone so fast. I could stay another week :)
