I like to think that good ol’ Davey Hume, one of the leading lights of the Scottish Enlightenment, would have found it amusing that people rub the toes of his statue for good luck. But probably not.

I met up with a couple of friends for a drink after work. One of them has had a very serious diagnosis since I last saw him. I was really shocked by the toll his condition has had on him. Life is short, my friends, so please hug the people you love and tell them how you feel about them. xx
