funer(e)al
not much to say hear as the whole day was spent with funeral-related matters and then being exhausted. we started with a service, in which i spoke. it wasn't until all the ceremonial business at the end that i managed to lose it, etc.
---
i read wild geese, a mary oliver poem, which i'm sure no one else got, but there it is. my grandfather loved the outdoors, and so that was what i talked about, my memories of that and having it instilled at a young age.
---
it was really, really hot for the first time here this summer, i hear. sweat rolling down the backs of my legs under a horribly hot tent.
---
in other news is the amazing stuff that happened in the texas senate last night. too much to summarize here as i backblip since i am leaving for the airport in a couple of hours. but it was a great moment and indeed uplifting, though it made me miss austin.
back to dc tomorrow.
p.s. this is not where we had the service but just another church building in the area.
