The art of Tevaevae

 The word tevaevae means patch and is a beautiful tradition of quilting or applique carried on in the Cook Islands.  Groups of village women used get together and handstitch bed quilts which would become treasured wedding gifts.  I went with the Canadian lady who uses next door to us here to the shop yesterday, such beautiful and colourful items for sale.
