Out of the rain

Another day of non-stop rain.  I was up in the office and decided to go for a walk to the London Review of Books Cafe for lunch rather than another pret sandwich at the desk.  So set off with brolly, dodging the tourists in front of the British Museum.  Sadly the excellent cafe was shut due to staff illness so i bought an actual book in the shop, felt I ought to having got there. Currently reading a lot but all on Kindle so don’t have to carry a book.  I do normally have one paper book on the go just to be able to curl up in a chair with one.  That one is currently the last writings of Hilary Mantel.

So tracking back in the rain I decided to go into the Contemporary Ceramics gallery and spent a happy ten mins wandering around and realising it was a great place for an interesting present.

The people lined up to go into the British Museum and the to and fro of umbrellas and taxis swishing past in the rain made for a mesmerising window-scape.

Home at good time and watched the final Criminal Records written by a friend so we can get to the end of something! V had a busy day with various people turning up to fix things (we have rats in the thatch attracted by the bird food so the birds are going to have to go hungry for a few weeks) and an impromptu visit from his eldest daughter.  He was quite exhausted!
