Noah's Ark

We went back to our friends at Dennett Stone and Tile to pick out a slab for our fireplace surround. Paperwork has to happen before they can come and make templates for cutting the slab. David is busy putting in gas and electrical lines and building out the frame for the slab.

We had lunch at a Peruvian restaurant recommended by Drue, our designer who dropped by to look at the stone with us. We even ordered exactly what he told us to order, and it was both delicious and filling--an interesting combination of South American and Japanese food. It's a small place in a fairly nondescript location, but the tables all have fresh flowers, the chairs are made completely from barrel staves and the music is hip and not too loud. There was an important (aren't they all?) FIFA football match on the tv with the sound turned off--Brazil vs Uruguay. The chef sat down to watch whenever he wasn't busy at his stove.

On to Sebastopol for some bit of irrigation OilMan could only get there. Noah's Ark is in front of the Community Church. It was there when we first started going to Sebastopol but went away when they built a new building and renovated the landscaping,The ark didn't return and I was afraid the church members had lost their sense of playfulness. Apparently it was just being repainted, as it was back in place, bright and cheerful when we drove by today. I was pleased to be able to add it to my published collection of Patrick Amiot repurposed junk sculptures, which are all over Sebastopol and never fail to bring a smile to my face.
