At the Coast

I was privileged today to hear the haunting call of a golden plover.  It passed overhead.  I didn’t see it; the call is redolent of open moorland, and boggy peat rich areas.  If you are dedicated enough it’s possible to see them on migration on salt marshes, mudflats and estuaries.  It’s well worth the journey.
