Osprey nest on Rutland Water
Today we set off for a weekend break by Rutland Water. We headed straight for the Lyndon Visitor Centre in the hope of seeing the ospreys nesting in Manton Bay.
We weren't disappointed. We bought our permits at the visitor centre and walked to the Waderscrape hide where the nature reserve staff had a telescope trained on the nest. Through the scope we had a super view of the female on the nest with her three chicks, and then we saw the male arrive with a fish. He ate his own share and then took the remainder to the nest.
We continued on to the Shallow Water hide where I took this shot. I don't know the name of the mansion in the background.
