In case anyone was wondering, yesterday’s tiny Tuesday ‘mystery object’ is a Bakelite door handle - turned on its side - see extra. 

It’s one of the few objects remaining from the time the house was built (in the 1930s) though there’s a rather nice art deco lampshade in the sitting room that we insisted on keeping when we moved in 18 years ago!
