Diary of an Edinburgher

UKLPOTY 2023

Today we went down to the station to see the 'Landscape Photographs of the Year' competition results. (UKLPOTY 2023), which is on show in Waverley Station, having started in Paddington Station. It's on tour round the country.

Our friend, Iain Masterton (@iainmasterton) won the 'Bird's Eye' category, and got two highly commended photos. Admittedly, some of the winning photos were a puzzling choice, but it's worth seeing. Well done Iain! Here he is pointing to his three winning photos, all taken with his beloved drone.

We met up with Hazel there, and then she came back with us on the bus to Bruntsfield, as we had a master plan of going to try Montpelier's new 'half price mains' menu. Also, to check out their refurbishment. We all had fish and chips. But when I asked for the bill, the mains were not half price... Aha - the waitress informed us that they are only half price if you book ahead...

We expressed surprise, nay, dismay, pleading that we'd come there especially from town, so she checked with the manager, who said 'OK then...' (But don't try that again).

JR took Archie out for a walk (he'd been happily at home with his bone). I was stuffed (7,200 steps).

More research being done for a week in July when Archie is going to Derek. The world's our oyster...(But not as far as Australia again for a while).
