Diary of an Edinburgher

A tale of two invalids…

After yesterday's great toe pain, it wasn't so bad this morning, amazingly enough. Archie and I walked to the graveyard as it was another lovely spring-like morning.

JR after two gyms then breakfast, took him out for a bigger walk. In the afternoon I set off early for my long awaited, highly anticipated podiatrist appointment.in fact, I was a tad early, so I went to the nearby cafe, but there was a very loud woman droning on and on and on - her companion didn't get a word in edgeways. So I got a takeaway coffee and went to the podiatrist early, declaring that I'd sit in the corner and wait. But the kind man started the appointment there and then, which meant I had a good 45 minutes with him. And he's fixed my toe! It's not gout. It's not a bunion. It was caused by me, cutting slightly too much off the corner of the nail before we went to Australia!

He spent so much time very carefully fiddling with it, tidying it up, chatting and giving instructions for the healing over this week, including three days of a ten minute salt water bath. What a lovely man... I am SO relieved! The best £40 I've spent in a long time!

But for the other invalid, Archie, the news isn't so good. He IS bothered by the wee sore on his chest. He always tries to obsessively lick it when he's in the house, so I'm afraid the cone is still in use. He's unsettled at night, walking round for a long time. Sooo, we will have to decide soon about what to do about it... (££££££s)

Quite enjoying 'True Love' at the moment, on iPlayer.
