Neptune’s staircase

Thomas Telford started work on Neptune’s staircase near Fort William in 1803…

There are 8 locks making it the longest staircase lock in Britain…see extra photo.

Ros and I walked along the Caledonian Canal this morning from the staircase, then back to our hotel in Fort William. ( 9 miles )

The Caledonian Canal is 60 miles long, connecting Fort William to Inverness through the spectacular Great Glen.
