Dress patterns…including my wedding dress!
Such a miserable rainy day again.
After a swim I did some more sorting out, this time old patterns.
I used to make lots of clothes in my 20’s, often using Laura Ashley material . I also made a bridesmaid dress for my brothers wedding…top left pattern in navy blue and my own wedding dress..bottom right No 4 in white spotted organza over a lining material. I didn’t have a veil or a train! I didn’t want to spend loads of money on a dress I would not wear again and it looked fine for a formal wedding. I then sold it to someone we knew shortly after! But I think I still have the bridesmaid dress in the loft.( That’s on my to do list…have a look at other things in the loft).
I haven’t made any clothes for years…I think the last thing was a prom dress for my daughter! I have used my newer sewing machine for various furnishing things, quilts etc.
This afternoon I went to local history group meeting and then to a Consultation meeting in the church hall to see the plans for the River Thames Scheme which proposes to create a new area to reduce the risk of flooding mainly in the Runnymede area..a partnership between Surrey CC and the Environment Agency. This is completely separate to the current scheme by Thames Water re discharging treated sewage into the Thames at Teddington which is being opposed by many local residents and organisations.
