A hole.

The course I teach on will be in a different department from September.
It's a decision that has been coming for some time so it was no surprise when I was told.

It's a fantastic opportunity to further develop the course.

But my emotions are mixed tonight.

I'm excited by the change and the opportunity to work alongside lots of people I know and respect.

But to do that means leaving a department I've worked in for 12 years and I'll be leaving another group of amazing people.

Some people asked how they would fill the hole I will leave behind. It's very kind of them to say this but there are plenty of good people who will more than ably fill any hole I leave. Some holes don't need filling anyway, like this one in our garden gate.
